A Hackathon for tech enthusiasts

Are you a tech enthusiast with the ability to find innovative solutions?

SMART SRI LANKA, is a Hackathon organized by Sri Lanka Telecom and Mobitel together with Mobitel Innovation Center in line with SLT Smart Verticals where the teams are challenged to find innovative solutions, products through technology related to a selected vertical/s. This Hackathon is in parallel to SLT group’s recently launched National Digital Roadmap, towards a Smart Sri Lanka.

Contestants are encouraged to use new technologies like mobile, web, IoT (Internet of Things), big data, electronics, virtual reality etc. and come up with innovative products, solutions, systems, platforms, apps to come up with innovations related to these verticals. This competition will promote the advancement of mix-mode solutions which comprise of both hardware and software alike, while encouraging creativity and innovation among young developers.

1. WHAT IS SMART SRI LANKA

It is a Hackathon organized by Sri Lanka Telecom and Mobitel together with Mobitel Innovation Center in line with SLT Smart Verticals where the teams are challenged to find innovative solutions, products through technology related to a selected vertical/s. 2. How can I register for the Hackathon?

You can register for SMART SRI LANKA Hackathon through this page by clicking on register button by providing the requested information about your team and intended solution. The organizing team, along with the industry experts will select suitable teams for the hackathon based on submitted details.

3. CAN I FORM A TEAM OF MEMBERS AND JOIN the hackathon

YES, You need to team up and register as a team for this Hackathon. There have to be a minimum of 3 members in a team and the maximum is 5. All member details including the team leader, should be provided at the time of registration

4. IS THERE ANY AGE LIMIT to take part in Hackathon?

No There isn't an age limit for participation. Even if you are a School student you can participate for the event. This is open to school students, University students and working professionals.

5. Can everyone who register in the web site, participate for the hackathon?

Afraid Not. Registered teams will be reviewed based on the submitted details and only a limited numbers of teams will be selected to participate for the Hackathon. The short listed teams will be notified via an email to team leader.

6. Is there any district, province limitation for the Hackathon?

No, there is no limitation as such. Any one from anywhere can apply for the Hackathon. If you are selected you need to be at the venue (Polonnaruwa) for the hackathon.

7. Is there any transport facility provided from Colombo to go to the Hackathon?

Yes, considering the Hackathon location if there are teams from Colombo or suburbs keen to participate will be provided with transportation to and from the Hackathon venue in Polonnaruwa

8. What are the terms and conditions of the Hackathon?

9. DO I NEED TO BRING ANY VERIFICATION DOCUMENTS DURING REGISTRATION?

Please bring your National Identity Card, Driving Licence or Passport for verification purposes

10. ARE THE PARTICIPANTS ALLOWED TO STAY OVERNIGHT AT THE VENUE?

Yes, you may stay overnight at the venue.

11. WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE COMPETITION?

Participants should bring own laptops, chargers, internet dongles and required stationary. As it is going to be an overnight event, bring anything that is necessary, such as toiletries and required clothes.

12. WILL FOOD & BEVERAGES BE PROVIDED?

Yes

13. Will there be WIFI at the location

Yes, there will be WIFI access. However please bring your own internet connectivity in case there are special requirement

14. What will the winning teams receive?

Three winning teams will receive following cash prizes. 1st place: LKR 150,000 2nd place: LKR 100,000 3rd place: LKR 50,000
